Again, my name is Pat...  

And this is a picture of me in middle school...  

Where everyday while trying to change for gym class...  

I was choked up against the lockers...  

And told how I ugly I was...  

I was the only redhead in a mostly Latino school  

And I'm half Latino but nobody could tell... 

After all the abuse...  

By the time I got to high school I was super depressed and thinking about suicide a lot  

I did my best to hide and avoid people...  

Because I couldn't deal with any more negative attention

Then one day during a lunch break I saw a group of older guys freestyle rapping...

I stood there amazed watching them have fun...  

And come up with funny and clever rhymes 100% off the top of their head...  

One of the guys caught me staring and called me over  

I got super nervous and my face turned red  

He said...  

"C'mon freestyle!"  

I was like...  

"No way man.... sorry I can't..."  

He pulled me aside and gave me a couple tips...  

I still told him... "no sorry, I don't know what to rap about"  

But he kept pushing and wouldn't leave me alone...  

He said "Just rap about what's around you..."  

It was just me and him now...  

So I tried it...  

And I completely sucked...  

I was only able to rap a couple lines about the grass I was standing on...  

Before I got stuck and ran out of words...  

He laughed and said "Good job..."  

He was nice about it but I knew I was horrible...  

Especially when I looked around and saw a group of popular older girls laughing at me...  

I could have easily quit right there and never tried rapping again...  

Instead...  

From that point on I decided I would get pro freestyle rap skills as fast as possible...  

So the next time I would get called into a freestyle session...  

I would be able to rap for as long as I want...  

And surprise the people who think I can't rap because of how I look...

I started practicing like crazy over any music that was around me...  

I freestyled when my brother was doing his piano lessons...  

I freestyled over the sound of the clothes drying machine...  

And I practiced over my favorite rap beats...  

I didn't have any method to build my skills so I just practiced without any order for 3 years straight...  

And by the time I got to college I was performing with a rap group at all the best parties...  

Winning rap battles... 

And killing every freestyle session...  

I loved it...  

It gave me an outlet for all of my dark emotions...  

And made me feel a lot more confident in all areas of life

Then one night at a party while freestyling with some friends...  

A cute girl asked me how to freestyle rap...  

I got super nervous again...
